A Megan Thee Stallion il premio come miglior artista donna nella categoria hip hop, a Sean "Diddy" Combs il prestigioso Lifetime Achievement Award, premio alla carriera. E poi Will Smith (che torna a ricevere un premio dopo la polemica agli Oscar), Bruno Mars e molti altri. Sono alcuni dei vincitori dell'edizione 2022 dei Bet Awards che premiano il talento delle persone di colore nella musica, televisione, film e sport e che si è tenuta domenica 26 giugno al Microsoft Theatre di Los Angeles.
Tantissime le personalità che si sono esibite sul palco e hanno sfilato sul red carpet, chiedendo un'azione concreta contro la decisione della Corte Suprema di ribaltare la sentenza Roe v. Wade per il diritto all'aborto.
C'erano Lizzo e Mary J. Blige, Billy Porter e a sorpresa anche Mariah Carey. Tra i vincitori The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar e la giovanissima Latto.
Molto toccante la consegna del premio alla carriera a Sean "Diddy" Combs, celebrato da una miriade di colleghi artisti ed ex collaboratori come Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Shyne, Lil Kim e Faith Evans.
C’era anche Kanye West, che si è presentato mascherato e incappucciato e nel suo discorso di ringraziamento a Diddy ha anche menzionato la sua vicenda personale del divorzio da Kim Kardashian.
Will Smith, dopo le polemiche agli Academy Awards e lo schiaffo a Chris Rock è tornato su un palco pretigioso per ricevere il BET Award come miglior attore.
